Bring customers back
5 minute read
These seven tools run by themselves once you turn them on. They are part of the Atelier plan. Find them on the Marketing page, under Customers come back on their own. Each one has its own switch and settings. Under each one, you'll see what the buyer sees and how many times it has been used.
Every discount shows up as a discount code or a line on the order. Each one works the same way as a code you make yourself. The discount shows on the order page, the pay page and the receipt.
The cart email
If a buyer types their email at the cart and leaves without ordering, your shop sends them one email after the number of hours you set. The subject line is "You left something in your cart at" followed by your shop name. It lists what they picked and has a button back to their cart. If you set a percent, the email also has a one-time code that works for 7 days.
Each cart gets only one email. If the buyer orders before then, they don't get one at all. The page shows how many carts were emailed, how many of those buyers came back and ordered, and how much they spent this month.
Back in stock
When a product is marked Sold out right now, a "Tell me when it's back" button shows under the Sold out label. A buyer leaves an email and sees "We'll email you when it's back." When you uncheck Sold out on that product, each of them gets one email called "It's back" with a link to the product.
The page shows how many people are waiting and how many have been emailed.
Loyalty points
Points are added once an order is paid in full. They count the price of the items but not shipping. Buyers see "Earn 45 points with this order" under the price and in the cart. At the cart, a buyer with enough points sees a line like "Use 500 points for $5 off". Pressing it puts a one-time code in the discount code box. The points come off their balance.
The page lists every buyer with points. Turning the switch off stops new points and keeps everyone's balance.
- 1Switch on Give points on every paid order.
- 2Set the points per dollar spent, how many points make a dollar off, and the fewest points a buyer needs before they can use them. The usual numbers are 1 point per dollar, 100 points for $1 off, and 500 points to start.
- 3Press Save.
Refer a friend
After an order, and on their account page, a buyer sees "Give 10%, get 10%" with their own code and a Copy code button. The code is four letters of their name plus two more. A friend types it in the discount code box and gets your percent off their first order. It only works for people who haven't ordered from you before. The buyer who shared it can't use it.
Once the friend's order is paid in full, the buyer who shared gets an email called "Thanks for sending" followed by the friend's name. It has a one-time code for the percent off you set for them. The page shows how many codes were made and how many friends ordered.
Pop-ups
The welcome pop-up shows once to each new visitor. It waits the number of seconds you set. The leaving pop-up shows once, on a computer, when a visitor moves their mouse up to leave the page. Both use the same email sign-up box as your shop page. The sign-up box tells visitors they'll get a couple of emails a month at most.
Write your own title and line, or leave them blank to use ours. The welcome pop-up's usual title is "Want 10% off your first order?" After they sign up, they see their code on screen. It's WELCOME10 or STAY10, with your percent in place of the 10. Each person can use it once. A visitor who closes a pop-up never sees it again in that browser.
The free-shipping bar
Type how much a buyer needs to spend to get free shipping. The cart shows a bar that fills as the buyer adds things: "Add $12.00 more for free shipping", then "You've got free shipping!" Once the cart reaches that amount, checkout charges $0 for shipping. Set it to 0 to turn the bar off.
Bundles
Each product in a bundle shows "Buy the hat and the tote together and save $5". The other products in the bundle are linked right there. Once every product in the bundle is in the cart, the discount comes off at checkout. The discount shows as its own line in the cart, under the first product of the bundle.
- 1Press Add a bundle and give it a name, like Hat and tote.
- 2Check two to six of your products.
- 3Type dollars off the set, or a percent off the set.
- 4Press Save.
