Thread charts: which brands are built in, and adding any other brand
3 minute read
Your thread drawer is on the Supplies page, under the heading "Your thread drawer". It is the list of spools you actually own, each with a brand, a number, a name, and a swatch, and each marked "On hand", "Low", or "Out". The drawer feeds your mockup swatches, your customers' previews, and the shopping list on your Run sheet, so what is in it matters.
A thread chart is a brand's list of color numbers with a swatch for each one. Broidry has four built in, and you can add a spool from any of them by number instead of typing it out.
The charts that are built in
Press "+ Add threads" on the thread drawer and the "Brand" dropdown lists them.
- 1Madeira Polyneon 40. Common colors, with each swatch measured from Madeira's own photo of the spool.
- 2Isacord 40. Common colors, with swatches taken from the published chart. The full Isacord line is several hundred colors, and the chart here is the ones shops reach for most.
- 3Candle Thread Polyester and Candle Thread Viscose. The complete cards, with the color values Candle Thread sent themselves. Candle Thread sells by number, so these colors have no names.
Add a spool from a chart
- 1Press "+ Add threads" and pick the brand from the "Brand" dropdown.
- 2A search box appears with that brand's name in it. Type the number or the color name.
- 3Click the color to add it. It goes into your drawer marked "On hand", and you can change that to "Low" or "Out" at any time.
A brand that is not built in
Richwood, Floriani, New Brothread, Glide, Sulky, Robison-Anton, and every other brand work in the drawer today. Choose "Another brand. Add my own" at the bottom of the "Brand" dropdown, fill in "Brand / line", "Number", "Color name", and the "Swatch" color, and press "+ Add spool". Weight and fiber are optional. That spool sits in your drawer like any other, with the same "On hand", "Low", and "Out" buttons, and it shows up in mockups and on the Run sheet the same way.
If you want a brand's whole chart built in so you can add its colors by number, email hello@broidry.com and say which brand. A chart the brand publishes, or sends us, can be added to the list.
