Etsy orders land on your board automatically
4 minute read
Every time you make a sale, Etsy emails you. Broidry can read those emails for you: forward them to your shop's private address and each sale shows up on your board as a paid order, with the buyer's name, the item, the personalization, the ship-by date, and the amount already recorded.
This is a one-time setup in Gmail that takes about five minutes. After that there is nothing to remember and nothing to type — a sale on Etsy simply appears in Broidry, usually within a minute.
Set it up
- 1In Broidry, go to Import and press "Create my forwarding address." Copy the address it gives you — it is private to your shop.
- 2In Gmail, open the gear menu, choose "See all settings," then the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab. Press "Add a forwarding address" and paste your Broidry address.
- 3Google sends a confirmation code to that address, which means it comes to Broidry. Back on the Import page, press "Check for the code" — the code appears there. Type it into Gmail's confirmation box.
- 4Now tell Gmail which emails to forward. In Gmail's search bar, click the sliders icon to open search options, put transaction@etsy.com in the From field, and choose "Create filter." Check "Forward it to," pick your Broidry address, and press "Create filter."
- 5Done. Make your next sale and watch it appear on your board, already marked paid.
Good to know
Orders arrive marked paid, because the buyer already paid on Etsy. The amount from the email is recorded as an Etsy payment so your money numbers stay truthful.
Etsy does not share buyer email addresses, so message the buyer through Etsy like you do now. Broidry holds the work side: the board, the production schedule, the checklist, the ship-by date.
If the same sale email ever gets delivered twice, Broidry recognizes the order number and will not create a duplicate.
If you sell on Etsy from an email account that is not Gmail, most providers have a similar forward-matching-mail setting. The Broidry side works the same way.
